Balancing school with a job, responsibilities at home, and plans for the future is a lot to manage. Our Youth Development program gives high school and college students the support they need to keep up now and figure out what comes next.

How We Support Students

Our team and volunteers work with students through the school year and over the summer. Here’s what’s included.

Academic Tutoring

Bring in the classwork that’s giving you trouble. We’ll work through it with you and help you prepare for your next test.

Mentoring

You’ll be paired with a volunteer mentor — someone you can come to with questions you’d rather not ask a teacher or a parent.

College and Career Planning

We’ll assist you with job or college applications, scholarship and financial aid forms, and the question of what to do after graduation.

Working While You Study

Many students need a paycheck to cover costs or help out at home. We’ll work with you to find a job with hours that fit around your classes.

Leadership and Service

Older students can help run our classes to get valuable leadership and volunteer experience.

Eligibility

All high school or college students are welcome. Students usually come to us when they’re:

  • New to the United States and working out how a different school system runs
  • Holding a job while taking a full class load
  • Behind in a class and looking to catch up
  • Unsure what happens after graduation

Interested in lending a hand? Students do better when someone shows up for them, and we’d love your help as a tutor or mentor. Take a look at our volunteer opportunities.
